Last week, we welcomed back our Year 6 and Year 1 children to school as well as continuing to provide education to the children of key workers.
We are sure that the children who attended last week for the first time were a little anxious but they have been truly remarkable. The smiles on their faces have been heart-warming and we are so thrilled to see them all again – we have missed them dearly. Their sensible attitudes- as well as their joy to be back learning – has made our life in school extremely enjoyable and they are an absolute credit to themselves and their families. The new procedures and measures put in place have not phased them at all and we are immensely proud of them.
Since returning, we have spoken to the children about how they feel to be back in school as well as having some conversations with parents. The children report that they are happy, they feel safe and that they are enjoying being back with their friends and teachers. They are loving the revision sessions for Maths and English and thoroughly enjoying the creative activities that have been planned for them. Parents have said how their children are returning home and telling them all about the fun they have had in school and that they can’t wait to go back the next day. This is why we do our job and we are so very lucky to have such lovely children and families in our school community.
We would also like to thank all of our parents/carers for following the new procedures when dropping off and collecting their children. It has run smoothly and allowed everyone to feel safe.
We would like to now show you some of the work and play that has taken place since last week’s wider opening. Could we also remind you that children who have not yet returned to school are still able to collect work from school as well as accessing work on our school website which is updated each week. Thank you to all of our children and families and we wish you all well and please continue to keep safe.
