The children have had a great start to Year 3 and have settled in magnificently this term! They have enjoyed being part of KS2 and have achieved a lot in such a short period of time.
English
This term, we have focused on two texts.
-U.G. The Boy Genius of the Stone Age
-Tom’s Sausage Lion
We have wrote diary entries, wrote persuasive speeches, acted out scenes and predicted the end of stories. Some of the children even read their work and performed at the front of the class. We are now covering poetry and in the process of writing our own poems!
Science
This term we have focused on Rocks & Nutrition
The children have enjoyed Science and especially the experiments. They have loved finding out new things about what different animals eat. They also created posters about and having a balanced diet and how it is essential for a healthy lifestyle. children identified types of rocks and did an experiment on the durability, density and if it was permeable or not.
Geography – Our Local Area
They used maps with compasses and then learnt about technology in our local area. They drew amazing pictures of our school. They also focused on bar charts and pictograms and created their own!
Art – Portraying relationships
The children did work for our class display and work for the hall about relationships with family and friends.
DT – Iron Man
As well as focusing on the Iron Man for their reading journal, the children have been designing their own Iron Man.
