At Ravenscroft, we have introduced Spelling Shed to support our children’s spelling journey as they progress through Year 2 and KS2. The Spelling lists on Spelling Shed are grouped together, helping children to learn and apply the different spelling rules and to recognise different spelling patterns, in line with the National Curriculum appendix for spelling.
Each week a set of words is provided. These words are examples of the spelling pattern.
Each lesson also contains a revision section so children will revisit sounds and spelling patterns from earlier weeks in the scheme.
Within the lessons, children will also explore the words of the week. They will examine aspects such as the number of syllables, tricky sounds and the morphology of the words.
